bonbon: [French /bɔ̃ˈbɔ̃;ˈbɒnˌbɒnz/] noun, a small piece of confectionery, candy, or caramel.
bonbonniere: [French /bɔ̃bɔˈnyɛr; bɒnbəˈnɪərz/] noun, a small decorative box used to contain sweets that are given by hosts to their guests on special occasions.
« La Bombonera »: commonly refers to certain stadiums like in Argentina, Mexico, Spain and Uruguay where football is played.
Currently, the medicalisation of food in general has also stigmatized sugar in a rather negative way. It is reductionist to consider candies only in relation to its organoleptic and nutritional characteristics.
If we want to have the whole picture of candies, we need to consider their multiple social uses –like play, reward, entertainment. The most important motivation of this project is to revalorise sugar by finding a responsible way but amusing enough for its consumption.
Bonbonera uses candies as catalysts to improve our eating habits with sugar in a playful, convivial and pleasant manner.
